Human Resources Manager

 

A well-established company with a large mining operation in Alaska is looking for an HR Manager with mining industry experience.

 

The HR Manager will have organization-wide responsibility for Human Resource management.  This will encompass:

  • Ensuring that direct reports and respective work areas are in compliance with company health and safety policies and the local OSHA; ensuring that direct reports have the necessary training, skills, knowledge, and tools to do their jobs safely; and assist in accident and incident investigations.
  • Partnering with the parent company to drive the development and delivery of HR programs and services.
  • Advising managers and employees on HR programs, service changes, employment legislation, and day-to-day tactical matters.
  • Managing and implementing operating practices such as new hires, terminations, handbooks, policies, guidelines, inter-country transfers, training and development, personal rights and diversity, and travel and security.
  • Forecasting HR-related expenditures and managing the budget and ongoing resource allocations.
  • Managing the administration of compensation programs to ensure internal equity and compliance with company practices.
  • Managing and administering the company benefit program.
  • Implementing and managing strategic recruitment and retention practices.
  • Monitoring, developing, and guiding HR staff.
  • Participating as a key member of the management team.</li><li>Performing other HR related responsibilities as required.

 

To be considered for this position, Candidates must have the following education, experience, and skills:

  • A college degree in business administration and/or HR Certification.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of human resources experience.
  • Direct experience in the mining industry including one to two years in remote or culturally diverse locations is absolutely required.
  • Proven organizational skills and planning ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Self-motivation and effective problem solving skills.

 

This position is located in Anchorage but will require frequent travel, potentially for long periods at a time and to remote locations.  The company offers an excellent salary and benefits package.  A relocation package is available.  A work visa is negotiable for qualified candidates.

Environmental Coordinator/Compliance Coordinator

 

A well established company with a large mining operation is in need of an Environmental Coordinator/Compliance Coordinator.

 

This individual will supervise the Environmental Specialists and Technicians and will utilize their knowledge of environmental policy, laws, and regulations. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and acquiring permits required for work related to drilling, engineering, and baseline studies, feasibility studies, and ongoing camp operations.
  • Ensuring that all field operations have the required permits and that these operations are in compliance with permit stipulations.
  • Conducting and supervising all field inspections and completing all reporting required (SPCC, SWPPP, spill reporting, USACE, etc.)
  • Maintaining and updating all environmental management systems documents.
  • Working with project staff to ensure that operations are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Supervising and coordinating ongoing reclamation efforts.
  • Supervising, coordinating, and assisting project and contract field staff to conduct environmental baseline studies.
  • Supervising and monitoring quarterly water monitoring activities.
  • Supervising and coordinating air quality monitoring activities.
  • Managing environmental data.
  • Providing support for community relations and interactions.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

 

To be considered for this position, Candidates must have the following education, experience, and skills:

  • A Bachelors Degree or higher in Environmental Science, Geosciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years in compliance, environmental science, geosciences, or related fields, preferably in the minerals or energy industry.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and filed operations in Alaska is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

This position is based in Anchorage but will require frequent travel.  It will be a rotational position of two weeks on/one week off in the summer with additional trips to the mine in winter.  The company offers an excellent salary and benefits package.  A relocation package is available.  A work visa is negotiable for qualified candidates.

Permitting Manager

 

A well established, international mining company is in need of an experienced Permitting Manager.

 

This individual will lead the permitting efforts for a new large-scale mine.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and managing relationships with regulatory agencies.
  • Developing permitting strategies, budgets, and schedules.
  • Developing and negotiating permit applications and language.
  • Managing outside environmental consultants.
  • Performing environmental due diligence for the company acquisitions.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

 

Candidates must have a BS in an engineering or environmental discipline and ten or more years of experience in the permitting process, including navigating through the mine permitting maze.

 

This position is based in Anchorage but will require frequent travel, potentially for long periods at a time and to remote locations.  The company offers an excellent salary and benefits package.  A relocation package is available.  A work visa is negotiable for qualified candidates.
